Our School

The school is all on one level and is very well maintained. The oldest part of the building dates back to the 1732 and was the original church. Over the years, there have been several extensions to the school building. Although the school has a small frontage this disguises a spacious and welcoming interior.

The school underwent a successful OFSTED inspection in January 2017 and was deemed to be a "good" school which has "several outstanding features and provides good value for money".

Currently there are 47 children on roll, between the ages 4-11.

St Mary's Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School is under the control of the Diocese of Lancaster in conjunction with Lancashire Education Authority. It is a small rural school and is centred at the heart of the market village of Great Eccleston in Wyre in very pleasant surroundings. It serves the extensive parish of St Mary's whose boundaries enclose the villages of Inskip, Thornton, Singleton, St Michael's, Little Eccleston and Elswick. Links with the parish church are good.

St Mary's welcomes applications from parents who wish their children to be educated within the aims and ethos of our school.

The school office is usually open during school hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. from
